Carlsbad offers the bright and personable energy of a small town with the conveniences of a large city. The southwest quadrant of Carlsbad — ZIP code 92011 — extends along the Pacific Ocean to the south of the city’s center. It includes the Aviara neighborhood, which is home to the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort.

The climate in Carlsbad is mild, and each season offers a variety of unique outdoor events and activities. There are just over 100,000 residents in the area, which means beaches are clean and uncrowded, and you’ll always find a patch of sand to relax on to soak up the SoCal sunrays.

What to Love

  • Offering small-town charm with the ample urban conveniences
  • Bustling streets, perfect for window shopping
  • A balmy, breezy Californian climate with plenty of sunshine

Local Lifestyle

Due to its plethora of sunshine, it’s not uncommon to find Carlsbad locals spending time outdoors, whether beachcombing, taking a stroll through the shops, or dining alfresco. The balmy climate means that the weather is often perfect for catching a wave during the morning surf or having friends over for a backyard barbecue.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

There’s an eclectic mix of eateries in Carlsbad. Local favorites include Vigilucci’s Cucina, offering authentic Italian dishes, and Windmill Food Hall, located in the iconic windmill building. Here, you’ll find amazing food by local vendors alongside an expansive craft beer selection.

Carlsbad Premium Outlets, a Simon-owned property featuring more than 90 stores, is a popular spot. Here, you’ll find high-end shops like Tory Burch, Coach, Marc Jacobs, and Crate & Barrel.

For over 60 years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills into a spectacular and coordinated display of natural color and beauty. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, is one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring in Southern California.
