Welcome to Encinitas

Bustling, contemporary, and energetic, this city is a blend of old-world charm and new-world culture

Located along six miles of Pacific coastline in northern San Diego County, Encinitas was Incorporated in 1986 and brought together the communities of New Encinitas, Old Encinitas, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Olivenhain, and Leucadia to create a single city. Rich in history and steeped in tradition, Encinitas offers a unique blend of old-world charm and new-world culture. Boasting a population of 60,000 people and lots of pristine beaches and rolling hills, this area features a famous Botanic Garden and lively downtown business district.

There is a great deal of historic architecture in the area, alongside some of the most beautiful beaches California has to offer. Each year, surfers from all over gather in Encinitas to compete in local surfing tournaments, and year-round sunshine keeps residents outside on the beautiful parks, trails, and golf courses.
