Things to Do
Parks and nature trails abound in Poway. Locals regularly traverse Mount Woodson Trail, a 7.3 mile, heavily trafficked track of land primarily used for hiking. Potato Chip Rock, aptly named for its flat appearance, is a natural tourist attraction located on the Mt. Woodson summit.
There’s also Lake Poway, a dam and reservoir owned by the City that was constructed between 1970 and 1972 with the purpose of storing and supplying water and providing recreational facilities to the community. Old Poway Park is a bustling park offering a Saturday farmers market, vintage train rides, a museum, and historic buildings.
Schools
Poway is served by the Poway Unified School District and contains 11 schools, including two high schools, two middle schools, seven elementary schools, and one adult school. PUSD serves approximately 36,000 students and is the third-largest school district in the county.
